How to Change the Toner Cartridge
Before anything else, you will need a new toner cartridge. If you use a Managed Print Provider they should have automatically shipped you a new cartridge when your levels started running low. If you self maintain your copier you will want to order a new cartridge.
When it’s time to replace the toner, you’ll receive a status notification on the screen indicating that the cartridge is empty. If this notification hasn’t appeared, it means it isn’t fully depleted, and the access door will remain locked. Do not attempt to force this door open—simply wait for the notification before proceeding. This design is part of Kyocera’s eco-friendly approach, ensuring all resources are fully utilized for minimal waste.
If you have received the notification then you can open the compartment right below the copier screen.
As long as you received the notification that the cartridge is empty, the door should already be open. Simply pull it out to remove it, but do not throw it out. Instead, simply set it aside for the time being. This will be repurposed as your new waste container in a later step.
Once the old cartridge is removed you can take your new black cartridge and slide it into place. You should hear a click once it is securely in place.
How to Change the Waste Toner Cartridge
It is important to note that every time you replace the toner on a monochrome TASKalfa device, you will need to replace the waste cartridge as well. To do that, start by opening the waste container door located next to paper tray 1.
Remove the old waste container by pulling it out. Once removed, take the empty black toner container you set aside earlier, rotate it 180 degrees, and slide it into the waste compartment. You should hear it click into place. Make sure to shut the door to the compartment.
