Written by Brad McEldowney | February 26, 2022

Perhaps you need more information for using your Kyocera TASKalfa copier. Maybe there is a specific scanning, copying, or finishing function you need some clarity on. Today, we’re going to show you some of the functions on the screen of Kyocera TASKalfa devices and how to use the features that could be considered the basics of copier use.

How to Scan on a Kyocera TASKalfa Copier

To begin scanning, first place the document on the doc feeder or the glass. Scans can then be sent to an email by selecting Send on the copier’s interface.

Within the Send menu, click the address book and search for the address or email the scan needs to be sent to. Highlight it and press ‘OK’.

If the necessary address or email is not available, it can either be added to the address book or manually entered by going back and selecting Email Address Entry  right below Address Book.

Next, navigate to the Original  Sending Data Format tab located near the bottom of the screen.

This tab gives you a lot of other features such as two-sided scanning which allows you to send both sides in one document. By default, the copier will scan single-sided documents. You can scan also select options such as left-to-right or top-to-bottom, but left-to-right is the most common choice.

Once everything is selected as needed, press ‘OK’ at the bottom right of the screen. If you see the green start button flashing below, it means your documents are properly situated in the doc feeder waiting to be sent through. The green light flashes to indicate readiness for copying or scanning. If it is not flashing, it means there are no documents on the glass or in the doc feeder. If ready to scan, press Start.

How to Make Copies on a Kyocera TASKalfa Copier

In order to generate copies, first press on the Copy option on the home screen.

Touch the number of copies in the top right corner of the screen and type in how many copies need to be made.

To close the number entry box, click the ‘X’ at the top right corner of the box or elsewhere on the screen. Make sure the other options are set according to your needs. Most of the default options should work well for most copies aside from deciding whether or not to use double-sided copying which can be found in the Original/Paper/Finishing section along the bottom of the screen as discussed previously.

To start copying, press the green Start button.

How to Select Double-Sided Copying on a Kyocera TASKalfa Copier

There are multiple copying options on Kyocera TASKalfa copiers. These options include scanning a 2-sided original into two 1-sided copies (2-to-1), two 1-sided copies into one 2-sided copy (1-to-2), or scanning a 2-sided original into a 2-sided copy (2-to-2).

When you touch the copy button from the home screen, you will see several other basic features. Some copying options are used more than others. For example, school teachers will almost always use two-sided copying, or the 2-to-2 function mentioned earlier since it will save paper. Typically the 1-sided copy option comes up as a default.

Pressing the 1-sided copy function will allow you to select from a few other options, including the 2-sided copy function instead of 1-sided. From there, selecting the 2-to-2 option would allow for double-sided copying.

How to Apply Finishing Options on a Kyocera TASKalfa Copier

When it comes to printing and copying, finishing includes multiple options to make office life easier. Finishing includes external options such as stapling, paper folding, and hole punching. Please note that each of these finishers are a separate attachments and if you do not have the attachments you may not have these capabilities. If these options are installed on your TASKalfa copier, and you wish to utilize them, navigate to copy  from the home screen and select Original/Paper/Finishing.

Here, it will ask about paper size, folding, collating, offsetting, mixed-size originals, and more. For now, we will focus on the staple and hole punch features since those are the most commonly used features.

On the screen you'll be able to select Staple and Punch.

Once you select that, the screen will give you more options. The most common option is the top left

Once you highlight the top left option, a picture will appear to the left of the screen, displaying a preview of the output. If you select staples, it will show where the staples will be applied to the document.

Hole punch can also be selected or deselected here. Similar to the stapling, the number of holes for hole-punch can also be selected.

How to Cancel or Rearrange Jobs on a Kyocera TASKalfa Copier

With a copier as robust as the Kyocera TASKalfa series, you can start jobs, stop jobs, and even reset jobs with a simple touch. You can use the Status/Job Cancel button, a physical button below the screen, to see active jobs.

Here, print and copy jobs can be selected. In the case that a mistake has been made, the job can be highlighted with a simple touch before choosing to pause or cancel it at the bottom of the list. Jobs can also be moved up and down the list using the Move Up option.
