Updated Buyer’s Guide from an Authorized Kyocera Dealer

In January 2025, we published a guide highlighting the best Kyocera copiers for the year ahead. Since then, the landscape has evolved. In June, Kyocera introduced its newest generation of TASKalfa devices, offering improved performance, enhanced security, and greater flexibility for modern office environments.

As we move into 2026, we’re revisiting the Kyocera lineup to provide an updated look at the best copiers for today’s businesses helping you make a confident, informed decision as you plan for the year ahead.

How we Ranked the Copiers?

As an authorized Kyocera dealer, American Office Solutions works hands-on with these devices every day. That real-world experience gives us insight into how each model performs in active office environments—not just how it looks on a spec sheet.

For this article, we reviewed five Kyocera copier and printer models and ranked our top picks based on:

  • Versatility across different office environments
  • Overall performance and long-term reliability
  • Value over the life of the device and scalability as your business grows
  • How well each model aligns with common business workflows

It’s important to note: there are no “bad” Kyocera copiers on this list. Kyocera has a long-standing reputation for durability and dependability. Our rankings simply reflect which models we believe offer the strongest all-around value heading into 2026.

This is not a fully comprehensive list. The best copier for your business will always depend on workflow, print volume, and available space. If we had to recommend a “safe” option without knowing anything about your business, these are the Kyocera copiers we’d feel most confident suggesting. That said, we always recommend having a detailed analysis conversation with one of our copier environment experts to ensure you're getting the best fit and most value for your specific needs. Start that conversation by following this link to our brief questionnaire about your specific needs.

Kyocera ECOSYS MA4500ix

A Reliable Black & White Desktop Printer

The ECOSYS MA4500ix remains a staple in Kyocera’s ECOSYS lineup. Even with the release of newer TASKalfa devices, this model has continued to prove itself year after year as a dependable, workhorse desktop printer.

Designed for smaller spaces and individual or departmental use, the MA4500ix is ideal when you need a straightforward, black-and-white device without unnecessary complexity. The standard “ix” configuration includes print, copy, and scan functionality.

For offices that require faxing, the MA4500ifx adds fax capability. The only difference being the “f” in the model name.

Its primary limitation is that it is a black-and-white printer only. While it can scan documents in full color, it does not support color printing. Additionally, the MA4500ix is limited to a maximum paper size of 8.5 x 14, which is an important consideration depending on your workflow.

Kyocera ECOSYS MA4000cix

A Compact Color Desktop Printer

The ECOSYS MA4000cix is essentially the color counterpart to the MA4500ix, offering the same compact, desktop-friendly footprint while adding full-color printing capabilities.

Like its black-and-white counterpart, the MA4000cix includes print, copy, and scan functionality, with an optional fax-enabled version available as the MA4000cifx.

This model is well-suited for offices that want convenient color printing without committing to a full-size, floor-standing copier. It fits comfortably in smaller spaces while still delivering professional-quality output.

Its primary limitation is that, as a desktop device, it supports a maximum paper size of 8.5 x 14. For businesses that require larger paper sizes, a TASKalfa MZ-series model will be a better fit.

Kyocera TASKalfa MZ4001i

High-Demand Black & White Copier, Ready Out of the Box

Released in the summer, the brand-new TASKalfa MZ4001i replaces Kyocera’s older 4004i series and serves as a reliable mid-range option for many offices. It delivers Kyocera’s signature reliability and longevity, with an out-of-the-box print speed of 40 pages per minute.

For offices with heavier workloads, this line also includes:

  • MZ5001i
  • MZ6001i
  • MZ7001i

The only differences between these models are print speeds, which determine how efficiently the devices handle higher monthly volumes. If your business prints exclusively in black and white and needs a combination of speed, durability, and flexibility, this line is a solid choice.

It's Primary limitation is that this line is black-and-white only. While you can add stapling, hole punching, and a variety of finishers to enhance functionality, offices that require color printing will need to consider other models.

Kyocera TASKalfa 308ci

Compact Color Copier with One Trade-Off

The TASKalfa 308ci is a relatively new model in Kyocera’s lineup, released in 2019, and it has proven itself as a reliable option for many offices. Almost identical to other TASKalfa devices, it prints at 30 pages per minute and is slightly smaller than most full-size TASKalfa copiers.

Its compact size makes it an excellent fit for offices that need color printing without the footprint of a floor-standing copier, while still offering robust paper capacity and performance.

It's primary limitation is that the 308ci does not support 11×17 printing. For offices where wide-format printing is rare, this model provides a strong balance of size, speed, and color capability, making it an ideal hybrid option between a desktop printer and a full-size copier. Offices that require larger format prints may want to consider a different Kyocera model.

Kyocera TASKalfa MZ2501ci Series

The Best All-Around Kyocera Copier (With One “Catch”)

If we had to name the most versatile Kyocera copier line heading into 2026, it would be the TASKalfa MZ2501ci series, with one important caveat.

The base 2501ci prints at 25 pages per minute, which is slower than some other Kyocera models. Fortunately, Kyocera offers six speed variants to suit different office needs, from 25ppm for lower-volume offices up to 70ppm for high-demand environments:

  • 2501ci – 25 pages per minute
  • 3501ci – 35 pages per minute
  • 4001ci – 40 pages per minute
  • 5001ci – 50 pages per minute
  • 6001ci – 60 pages per minute
  • 7001ci – 70 pages per minute

All models in this series are fundamentally the same device, offering identical features, print quality, and upgrade options. The only difference is speed, which should be selected based on your monthly print volume.

Starting with the 2501ci, this series offers excellent color output, Full 11×17 printing, Robust finishing options, and scalability to support growing offices.

Honorable Mentions

As mentioned, Kyocera updated its model lineup in June 2025, introducing a brand-new TASKalfa series. While older TASKalfa models are still solid options for now, like cars and phones, you’ll want to consider upgrading in the near future to get the most value out of your copier. As copiers age, maintenance becomes more difficult due to parts availability.

For the time being, the following older TASKalfa models remain reliable:

  • TASKalfa 2554ci
  • TASKalfa 3554ci
  • TASKalfa 4004i
  • TASKalfa 4054ci
  • TASKalfa 5004i
  • TASKalfa 5054ci
  • TASKalfa 6004i
  • TASKalfa 6054ci
  • TASKalfa 7004i
  • TASKalfa 7054ci

However, if your model number ends in “3” or “2,” it may be time to start planning an upgrade. These devices are now 2+ generations old and are beginning to show their age, especially when it comes to security updates and modern features.

Upgrading to the MZ2501 series ensures better performance, enhanced security, and long-term support, helping your office stay efficient and protected well into the future.
